It is always preferable to use original parts when possible – but sometimes it’s not – here are some new (not NOS) alternatives…
We really like these tyres – they look great, roll very nicely and seem to be pretty puncture resistant. Florence actually uses them on her “outdoor” wheels for the track. Our preference is for the smallest (22) size and have to confess we use tub tape not glue. Sorry!
Tange make very nice Nuovo and Super Record copies… Headsets seem to be one of the most difficult components to find nice original copies.
Cinelli have done a nice copy of the original Unicanitor saddle which is great for track or time trial bikes but a shame they chose to write Cinelli all over the top! Selle Italia are doing the Turbo in a couple of coverings.
Widely available but not really a close visual substitute for Campagnolo – however in black are very good to replicate the Omas or Cobra bolts.
The O rings are good Campag replacements, the Weinmann replacements are a bit crude, the adjusters generic but work well and seem to be a part that suffers…
Campagnolo brake blocks – they are going to be copies – and can be of variable quality in terms of fit!
MKS produce a variety of Campagnolo copies. Apart from dust caps the main difference is that they are not threaded for toeclips.
Exactly the same as original …
….and if you are building a full bore sprinter’s bike!
Will leave this one open to discussion…
Always going to come across a pesky non metric bolt – often a seat bolt! By the way we found 5/16″ BSF most common seat bolt size..Bar the logo and alloy expander bolt the same as ever! But be careful of matching stem to bars diameter..….and last you will need one of these!
Probably reproductions again – Campagnolo usually shield rather than globe – but lever hoods did wear out…
These are a little crude – but how often do you come across a NOS Regina Oro chain that doesn’t require a second mortgage?
